An easy version of a famous Filipino dessert known as Leche Flan.
Leche Flan also known as creme caramel is a dessert made from eggs and milk with a soft caramel on top. This dessert is known throughout the world and has been in the dessert menu of most restaurants because of its convenience in preparation and long shelf life. This was my Grandmothers Dessert Recipe, Leche Flan is one way of my lola to earn extra income and has been a family tradition from her Grandmother to her mother and to my Grandmother. Sometimes when she was making this Leche Flan, I am the one responsible to go to the market and buy the ingredients that my Grandmom put in her lists. Every Fiesta in our Municipality some of my lola's friends orders this Leche Flan, about a dozen for each of her 12 friends, so i always go and help my lola preparing all those orders an easy way for me to earn some money. Before we start we will need this ingredients.
Ingredients
- 10 pieces raw eggs
- 1 small can condensed milk (any brand will do)
- 1 cup evaporated milk
- 1 cup granulated sugar
Instructions
- Using all the eggs place the eggs in a big bowl then beat them using a fork or an egg beater
- Add the condensed milk and mix well
- Pour-in the evaporated milk and mix well
- Put the mold (llanera) on top of the stove and heat using low fire
- Put-in the granulated sugar on the mold and mix thoroughly until the solid sugar turns into liquid (caramel) having a light brown color.
- Spread the caramel by tilting the llanera to the directions with no caramel (liquid sugar) evenly on the flat side of the mold
- Wait for 3-5 minutes then pour the eggs and milk mixture on the mold
- Cover the top of the mold using an Aluminum foil
- Steam the mold with egg and milk mixture for 30 to 40 minutes.
- After steaming,set aside and let the temperature cool down then put it in a refrigerator
- Serve for dessert. Share and Enjoy!
