Chicken Liver and Gizzard (Filipino Adobo)

 (Filipino Adobo Style)
This adobo recipe is my wife and kids favorite, that is why I always make/cook this every Saturdays. I usually cook about 1 kilo of  Chicken liver and gizzard, I read an online article that says eating liver is beneficial for those suffering from anemia. So we decided to cook a liver dish every Saturdays all time favorite Filipino Adobo Style since I think that the usual adobo style recipe to be a little bit boring so I decided to add a bit of spice and sometimes a bit of sweetness. Having to result in a flavorful hot & spicy, sour and a little bit sweet adobo dish.  A well-cooked gizzard and liver are all we wanted, soft and tasty. We love this dish especially my wife. Sometimes we talk over the dinner table of what to add to our next Saturday Adobo Recipe, trying to invent some styles that yet we never tasted.

Ingredients :
  • Chicken Liver - 1/2 kilo
  • Chicken gizzard - 1/2 kilo
  • Garlic diced/minced - 5 cloves\
  • Red onion Sliced 
  • 3pcs Laurel leaf
  • Optional Red eye Chilli
  • 2 tsp Cooking Oil
  • 1/2 cup of Water
  • 3 tsp of Soy Sauce
  • 3 tsp of Vinegar
  • 3-4 tsp of Tomato Ketchup
  • 2 tsp of Sugar
  • Salt and Pepper to Taste
It is another option to marinade the Chicken Liver and Gizzard with the said ingredients, Tomato Ketchup,Soy Sauce, Vinegar, Garlic (Diced), Black Pepper (Crushed) and Sugar. But in this process we will cook it without marinading to cut the time of preparation.

Procedure:
  1. in a large pan add 2 tsp Cooking oil and Sauté the garlic (diced/minced) and onion (sliced).
  2. Add the Chicken Liver and Gizzard and saute again for about 3-5 mins.
  3. Add 3 tsp of Soy Sauce, Vinegar and simmer for another 5 mins.
  4. Add 1/2 cup of water,Tomato Ketchup plus the Laurel Leaf and simmer again for another 5 mins.
  5.  Mix the 2 tsp sugar, add Pepper and Salt to taste.
  6.  Remove from heat at transfer to a serving plate
  7. Garnish it with onions sliced
  8. Serve hot with Rice 
  9. Share and Enjoy!
