This is the way how we cook Ginataang manok (Chicken cooked in coconut milk). It is most popular and even tastier when we use native chicken hens. This post will show you how we easily prepare this dish for our Family here in our province.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs chicken, cut into serving pieces
- 2 cups coconut milk
- 2 tbsp garlic,diced
- 1 large onion,minced
- 2 tbsp ginger,sliced
- 1 tbsp turmeric powder
- ½ tsp paprika (optional)
- 1 piece long green chili (optional)
- 4 pieces Thai chili (or siling labuyo if available), chopped (optional)
- 2 tbsp cooking oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Procedure
- On a pan heat 2 tbsp cooking oil.
- Sauté the garlic, onion, and ginger.
- Put-in the chicken and cook until the color of the outer part turns light brown.
- Add the coconut milk and bring to a boil.
- Sprinkle paprika then simmer for 15 minutes or until the chicken is tender and the coconut milk thickens.
- Add the long green chili and the turmeric powder then simmer for 3 minutes
- Sprinkle with salt, and pepper then simmer for 3 minutes.
- Remove from heat then transfer to a serving plate
- Serve hot. Share and enjoy!
